One of the amazing things that I love about our online community is the generosity of cyber friends. Friends that we have never met in real life, but have such a mutual interest with that we appreciate what each other is doing and how much something means to us, that we go out of our way to do a kind deed. Kind deeds that real life friends do without thinking, that I guess makes our cyber friends real friends too.

This week I received metres of this gorgeous striped linen from one such generous cyber friend. Louise posted on Twitter that she was off to buy some of this linen and did I want any. My order was placed and within days it was here in my home.

The fact that this linen is gorgeous and works beautifully with my creations is irrelevant. The fact that Louise, who only knows me from my blog, Twitter and other such web based meeting places, knew at once that I would love it, is the reason behind why I love this community.

I really love what I do and I really love that it gives me the opportunity to meet all of you.

Many people underline the "dark" side of the web and all the troubles it creates... And we cannot deny it. But you have well described the beautiful side of the "social networks", and it is also THAT, that I love so much.
Have a fabulous week-end.

aww, how lovely!

I find the more I interact with those online who share similar interests and values, the more a part of it all I feel, and the more I get in response. It's a nice upside to the internet :)

It is certainly an unexpected but surreal experience to have such a close and intimate community that truly cares simply because of common interests and values that we share. I do believe I've met some friends for life through social networking and I couldn't be any more happy about it.

Your work and post reflects all of this perfectly!

How lovely is this! I love how social media can bring people together, I've been reading this blog for only a couple of months but have already been inspired many times over! :)

I've met so many wonderful friends online too. So more friendship, inspiration and more to be had out there in our little online worlds.

Awww, what a lovely post!
Finding the right fabric is like the holy grail to those of us with a fabric habit, and at the same time as knowing I had found a great fabric, I was trying to rein myself in. (my home is already incredibly well insulated with my fabric stashes, not to mention interior magazines....) So when you responded the way did on twitter, I recognised that, omg, it linen, it's striped, it's grey.... the pounding heart, the exitement, the, is this really THE perfect fabric before me?? it is soooo hard to find such lovely fabric, well in the UK. So I just had to share, but it also made me feel a teensy bit better about indulging my habit too ;)
And that is what I love about the online community, you find people through shared passions that get you and your obsessions. Mine primarily are making and dogs. And I've met such lovely people through both. Some I meet on line, then get to meet in real life, some I meet, say at a one off craft fair, then can follow up and keep in touch online.
I could go on and on, but oh the joy of the internet and the lovely lovely people it connects us too :)
