This is what I am looking out on at the moment. Okay, the sky could be a bit bluer, but it's rather pleasant, I think you'll agree.

And here's where I'm sitting right now. A real little haven of a place.

Until you turn around and look at this...

and this...

The entire house is suffering from an identity crisis. Every room is upside down. Every room has the contents of a different room in it, rather than the contents it should have. Nobody and nothing is where it should be. This week is really going to test my patience. The hall and living room floors are being sanded and revarnished. The radiators are all coming out. The front steps are being built. Oh and the inner hallways are being stripped and redecorated. This all equates to lots of people, lots of mess and no space for moi.

I'll be breathing a sigh of relief come Friday and in the meantime I'll just sit in my little corner looking out at the view...

Each time I read one of you recent blog posts I have every sympathy and so many similar memories of my own, I once spent 3 days sitting on my bed playing Myst on my laptop (this is a few years ago) the only ever 'game' I have played whilst the builders trashed the rest of the house, as it was the only clean-ish spot.

It will be so worth it in the end, I hope you manage the week as best you can and find enough little treats to keep you going.

Hang on in there. It really will be worth it in the end. Hubby took 5 years to renovate our schoolhouse - living in dist and mess for all that length of time - can you imagine.

Having builders in is so tiresome. Constant moving things from one room to another and nothing is safe from the dust, but it really is all worth it in the end. It will get better, and I'm so envious of the size of that bedroom window. Just glorious. Take pleasure in little things like that lovely view.

I do hear you, Karen, but oh... look at that divine wallpaper! It was just an explosion of utter beauty as I scrolled down. Friday will come and one Friday will come when the work people won't be coming back again and look at what you'll have! So gorgeous. Hang in there babe :) Kx

As I read this I have horrifying memories of our renovation where I would go to bed at night and instead of dreaming of the nicer things (like gorgeous wallpaper and lovely spaces and even lovelier views) I would have nightmares of getting up at the crack of dawn in the middle of winter (australian so dont know if this counts) and 'putting on a mix'. Yes! I was the worker! We did it all ourselves. Right down to the last bit of skin scraping. Be glad that you can relax while it is happening, instead of having to join in! Enjoy the process. It will end soon.
