:: selvedge ::

it's that time of year again...xmas fair season...where i can normally be seen galavanting off all over the place at various fairs around the country.

it's an unusual year this year however, due to other work and personal commitments, as i am actually only going to be out and about at one fair.

i am going to be exhibiting at the selvedge winter fair at chelsea old town hall on fri and sat 29 and 30 november.

coincidentally this is one of my favourite fairs to exhibit at and also to shop at. it is full of beautiful handmade products that make exceptional gifts. i'm hoping to conquer my complete xmas/chanukah list whilst i am there!

if you are in the neighbourhood and fancy a great day out do come along and as a little incentive to come over to my stand i am offering all my lovely blog friends 10% off at the fair. just make yourself known to me quoting {fair13}.

right, i'm off to make some more goodies for my stand and hope to see lots of you then!

ps if there's anything in particular you are wanting to buy do let me know and i can make sure i have it or put on one side for you. x

after the screens comes the printing...

So yesterday was all about preparing the screens with the designs and today was all about the printing and sewing....
and for those that follow me all over the internet will already have had a look at these...
not to mention my happiness with how they've turned out.

I have been carrying both these adaptations of the originals around in my head for some time and it is always quite scary seeing if what is in your head translates as you imagine. Do you know what I mean?
On this occasion they have surpassed my expectations and I feel quite in awe of how they have turned out.

I printed the Euros first and was quite blown away with how they looked and had to sew a pouch up immediately just to check that it was as good as I'd hoped!

Then came the Giant Triangles and quite frankly I can't put into words how I feel about this!
I really hope you are as enthusiastic about them as I am. Please tell me you are and it's not just me getting carried away from the paint fumes...
and if you are you can find the start of them listed in my shop...more to be added in due course, but do give me a shout if you don't see the colour you were hoping for...
and thank you for allow me to indulge my enthusiasm for them...not very modest of me really.

It's my favourite time of year, but at the same time not.
I love summer and I love long lazy days when we don't have to rush from activity to activity, endless hours of deadlines.
But juggling this with working is no fun.

I think a lot of us are the same.
Working from home means many interrupted weeks of trying to keep on top of work whilst not really having the proper time to do so.
My kids are getting older, which does mean they can be abandoned to keep themselves occupied. But guilt, coupled with knowing that means hanging out in front of the electrics for hours, soon gets me attending to them rather than getting on with the piling up work.

Tomorrow we are going out for the day.
No work, no neglecting children, just summer fun.
The day after we'll be back to neglect...

Rather than have all yesterday's prints sitting around doing nothing, I wanted to sew some up to get a feel for how the designs I'd done were working. The designs I did were too large for pouches but were perfect for a cushion.
And because the designs were A4 they looked best for a 30 x 40cm cushion.

I love how they've come up. There are possibly a couple of tweaks here and there that I want to do in the design, but on the whole, considering they are my first proper real screen-printed produced item, I am over the moon.

Having now done these, it has really helped order my mind in what I want to produce and keeping things cohesive. I'm going to slow right down (yeah, yeah, heard it all before) and keep things simple.

In the meantime, these first original one of a kind screen printed cushions are right here...
