I've been asked to make a cushion for a Sikh couple who have just got married. I have absolutely no idea what their taste is, how their house is decorated, what colours they like.

All I do know is that the wedding day colours are reds and golds, so I have used this as my starting point. However, this isn't a colour scheme that I would readily put together so I'm not overly sure on this one.

Should I carrying on with this line of thinking? Or go back to the drawing board? What do you reckon?

I think that you are on the right lines there Karen, you have chosen a great combination of fabrics, I would go with those :)

I think the link using the colours is a good way to go and your fabric choices are not sticking to being too traditional and are in-keeping with your own style, stick with it girl - looking good.
(Saw your Twitter post yesterday, all my love to you and your family x)

I agree, I wouldn't know where to start but you have made a great job of it. My guess would be that they would prefer a high proportion of colour to the white.

by using their wedding day colours the cushion will always remind them of their special day - go for it.

I love it - the only one that doesn't work for me is the martini Amy Butler print on the left (and it's one of my favourites, but for some reason I'm not sure about it with the other fabrics).

It's going to be beautiful though - I love the way that you've picked the colours.

I think you should carry on, absolutely! The reds and golds look fabulous and I look that little touch of grey in there too :) Kx

I hop eyou don't mind me commenting, but as a South Asian person who has been to so many South Asian weddings and homes, I can confirm that the colour gold is highly valued amongst the South Asian community. So would recommend adding a touch of it somewhere, not overly, just a little.
